Bali - Indonesia - June 2025

It had been a while since I picked up the camera to shoot anything surf related just for fun. My wife recently bought me a surfboard, and now I am learning how to surf at 32 years old, which weirdly made me kinda psyched to shoot it. Maybe because of remembering how hard it is. When you have spent a lot of time shooting some of the worlds best, you start to think it would be easy. Sitting wide of the river mouth in Canggu trying to catch one from underneath the crowd (and failing to do so) for an hour and watching the same groms getting every wave, made me appreciate the act of surfing a little more. I linked up with old friends Rolando Montes and Lee Wilson and then we were joined by Brad Flora and Italian supergrom Ale Dotti. We had a fun few days and I decided to give these images a little more love than just rotting on my harddrives.

Brad threw up ten minutes after this wave.

This guy paddled out with a ciggie in his mouth, and then got tubed, and proceeded to do a run around and lit up another on the way.

In case you didn’t believe me…
